DISC Wins Two Packaging Excellence Awards

The folding cartons for the new Kat Von D. adora fragrance and the Trish McEvoy Mobile Beauty Emergency kit were honored.

DISC has earned two Excellence Awards for its beauty-industry clients, Maesa Group and Trish McEvoy Ltd., in the 2011 Graphic Design:
USA
(GDUSA) “American Package Design” program.

“We are thrilled to be acknowledged by GDUSA’s prestigious panel of judges for the packaging of these high-end beauty products,” says John Rebecchi, senior vice president of marketing and business development for DISC. “The folding cartons for the new Kat Von D. adora fragrance and the Trish McEvoy Mobile Beauty Emergency cosmetic kit each exemplify our finest production values for beauty care product packaging.”

The Kat Von D. adora folding carton was designed to showcase the new adora fragrance line. It features finely detailed line drawings of original Kat Von D. tattoo art in high-gloss red ink dramatically printed over a deep black ground. The elegance of the folding carton is further enhanced using a number of high end value added techniques, all applied in-house. The final flourish was achieved with single-level embossing of the seal and logo on the front panel of the package.

“Our focus for this package was to maintain the integrity of the artist’s tattoo line art as well as to strengthen the product’s logo,” says Stephen Frey, senior vice president of sales for DISC. “This award from the creative community tops off the favorable responses our client is receiving from hip consumers in the market.”

Glamour was the operative word for the packaging created for the second award winner, Trish McEvoy’s Mobile Beauty Emergency kit. “We wanted the
package to make an exciting, strong statement in cosmetic sales venues across the country,” says Frey. “Our client’s creative team wanted to replicate the pattern of the cosmetics pouch inside. The result is a luxurious experience created by value-added visual and tactile decorative effects.”
